Help centre / Accounts

Every account,
on a schedule.

Bank, POS and payments, and investment accounts, each reconciled period by period.

Open Brillrec
Five steps

An administrator adds the accounts once. Each is then reconciled on its own schedule.

01

Open Accounts

The Accounts page has three sections: Bank accounts, POS & payments and Investments. An administrator adds accounts with Add account.

02

Add a bank account

Give its name, bank, account number, currency and ledger code. It follows your organisation’s matching defaults, or an administrator gives it its own policy. Under People, choose its preparer and, for each checking stage your organisation uses, its approver and reviewer. Its records can be uploaded, or loaded from a connection, the API, SFTP or the Statement inbox.

03

Add a POS or payments account

Give the provider, what it is reconciled as (settlements against the bank, or a wallet three-way), the bank account the settlements are paid into and how often it is reconciled: daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly. Daily reconciliation is on the Professional plan and above.

04

Add an investment account

Give the custodian, fund manager or registrar, what it is reconciled as (holdings, trades or client money), how often, and the account number printed on their statements. Brillrec uses that number to file valuation statements emailed to your Statement inbox.

05

See what is due

Due now on the Overview counts each account’s latest ended period (yesterday for daily accounts, last week, last month or last quarter) and whether it is signed off. Reconciliations → Close by account shows each account period by period; Start opens the next one.

Common questions

Quick answers.

Do POS and investment accounts count towards my plan?

Yes. Your plan’s account allowance counts every kind of account together. Settings → Billing shows how many you use.

Can I change what an account is reconciled as?

No. An account keeps its kind once it is added, so its history stays consistent. Mark it closed and add a new account instead.

Which currency is each account in?

Its own. Each account is reconciled in its own currency and never converted. Currencies and exchange rates explains how totals across accounts are shown.

Do POS and investment accounts need a matching policy?

No. They follow your organisation’s matching defaults for their currency.
