Help centre / Business Central

Your Business Central ledger,
reconciled where it is.

Bring the ledger side of each bank account in from Dynamics 365 Business Central (online), without exports.

Open Brillrec
Four steps

Your Microsoft administrator registers Brillrec once. A Brillrec admin then connects it.

01

Register an app in Microsoft Entra

In the Microsoft Entra admin centre, register a new application for Brillrec. Under API permissions, add Dynamics 365 Business Central, application permission API.ReadWrite.All, and grant admin consent. Under Certificates & secrets, create a client secret and copy its value.

02

Allow it in Business Central

In Business Central, open Microsoft Entra Applications, add the application (client) ID, set the state to Enabled, give it a read permission set such as D365 READ, and choose Grant Consent.

03

Connect in Brillrec

You need a Brillrec account first. As an admin, open Settings, then Connections, find Dynamics 365 Business Central and choose Connect. Type the tenant ID, the environment (usually Production), the client ID, the client secret and, if you have more than one, the company name. Brillrec checks them with Microsoft before saving, keeps them encrypted and never shows the secret again.

04

Import a period

On the Files step of a reconciliation, choose Import from Dynamics 365 Business Central, the ledger account (cash and bank accounts are listed first) and the period. The opening balance is everything posted to the account before the period.

Common questions

Quick answers.

What does Brillrec read?

The general ledger entries posted to the cash and bank ledger accounts you choose, with the account names and your company’s name. Nothing in Business Central is changed unless someone posts an approved journal from Brillrec, which needs the app’s permission set to include journals.

Who can connect?

Admins of your Brillrec organisation connect and disconnect Business Central. Admins and managers choose it as the source when importing.

Does it work with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, or Business Central on premises?

No. The connection is for Business Central online. From other versions, export the account’s ledger entries and upload them on the Files step instead.

“Microsoft didn’t accept the tenant, client ID or client secret.”

Check the three values, and that the client secret hasn’t expired in Microsoft Entra. Secrets have an end date: create a new one before it expires and connect again with it.

How do I stop sharing?

Choose Disconnect on the connection in Brillrec, then delete the client secret (or the whole app registration) in Microsoft Entra, and remove the application from Business Central’s Microsoft Entra Applications page.
