Help centre / QuickBooks Online
Your QuickBooks ledger,
reconciled where it is.
Bring the ledger side of each bank account in from QuickBooks Online, with its running balance, without exports.
Open BrillrecFour steps
An admin connects each QuickBooks company once. Admins and managers can then import from it.
01Connect
You need a Brillrec account first. As an admin, open Settings, then Connections, find QuickBooks Online and choose Connect. Brillrec says what it reads; choose Continue to QuickBooks Online, sign in to Intuit, choose the company and connect. From the QuickBooks App Store, Get app now brings you to the same place.
02Check it
Back in Brillrec, the connection shows your QuickBooks company and Working. Choose Check now at any time to test it.
03Import a period
On the Files step of a reconciliation, choose Import from QuickBooks Online, the bank account and the period. The ledger lines come in with the running balance, as if you had uploaded the file, so the column check, balance check and matching are the same.
04Disconnect
In Connections, choose Disconnect. Brillrec cancels its access at Intuit and deletes its access tokens. If you disconnect Brillrec from inside QuickBooks instead, Brillrec asks an admin to confirm removing the connection here too. Reconciliations already made are kept.
Common questions
Quick answers.
What does Brillrec read?
The transactions recorded against the bank accounts you link from your QuickBooks chart of accounts, with the account names and your company’s name. Nothing in QuickBooks is changed unless someone posts an approved journal from Brillrec.
Can Brillrec post journals to QuickBooks?
Yes, only journals that have been prepared and approved in Brillrec, and only when someone chooses to post them. Each posted journal keeps the reference QuickBooks gives it.
Who can connect?
Admins of your Brillrec organisation connect and disconnect QuickBooks. Admins and managers choose it as the source when importing; everyone else sees the lines once they are in a reconciliation.
Can I sign in with my Intuit account?
Where the sign-in page shows Sign in with Intuit, yes. The first time, if your email address already has a Brillrec account, Brillrec asks for your Brillrec password once to link the two. Brillrec two-factor sign-in still applies.
I have more than one QuickBooks company.
Connect each one: choose Connect another on QuickBooks Online in Connections, and pick the next company at Intuit.
Does it work with QuickBooks Desktop?
The connection is for QuickBooks Online. From QuickBooks Desktop, export the bank account’s transactions report and upload it on the Files step instead.
“QuickBooks no longer accepts this connection.”
The access was removed or has expired at Intuit. Choose Reconnect on the connection and sign in to Intuit again.
